ANNAPURNA SANCTUARY TREK:   17 days

This trail takes you deep into the Annapurna and Machhapuchare Himal. You will also be seeing 360 degree panoramic views of Annapurna I south face and Machhapuchare North Face.

During the trek, witnessing the Gurung village with houses hipped with slated roof is much more interesting. The Trek traverses a variety of terrain from lowland village and rice terrace to glaciers and offers stunning mountain views.

Service includes: airport transfer in a private car, 5 nights in Kathmandu hotel (tourist class) in BB basis, 2 nights in Pokhara hotel (tourist class) in BB, 13 days trek in lodge basis, 3 meals & accommodation in the available lodges during the trek, national park fees, Flight fare Ktm- Pokha ra-Ktm, one guide, one porter for 2 member, daily wages and meal and accommodation of guide and porter, one porter is allowed to carry maximum of 30 kg of total weight, insurance of guide & porter, full day sightseeing with English speaking guide with all entrance fees.

Service Excludes: Domestic airport tax, lunch/dinner at Pokhara and Kathmandu, one fare well dinner in Ktm, laundry, telephone calls, emergency evacuation if required, donation, tips and all personal nature expenses.

Note: Clients are suggested to give maximum of 12 Kg. of personal luggage to the porter.

 

Itinerary:

Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m). Transfer to hotel.

Day 02 Sightseeing Around 9.30 AM in the morning there will be formalities of meeting the guide and brief information of the tour of the day. We start the tour for discovering the extraordinary city. The program will be: Bhaktapur Durbar Square monuments with their wooden pagoda-temples, the Bodnath or Swayambhunath’s Buddhist sanctuaries and Pashupatinath, a holy Hindu temple where the cremations process of Hindu religion takes place, and, including many temples spread about along the crowded and busy streets of the antique city.

Day 03 Kathmandu - Pokhara - Pothana (1990m) Morning flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara (about 25 minutes of flight). Lunch will be at Pokhara. After lunch there will be a car arranged to take you up to Phedi. The first day of walk will be short climbing up to a ridge by a “Nepalese Staircase” Dhampus (1700 m.) is a large village strung out along that ridge, here you will be rewarded with great mountain views. We still continue our walk ascending and enter rhododendron forest and follow a trail paved with stones. and finally come to halt at Pothana. The stunning view of Machhapuchare (Fish Tail) Mountain is seen from Pothana. Today’s night stop will be at Potahana. 2.30 hrs walk.

Day 04 Pothana-Landrung (1620 m). Today’s trail will be again climbing up on a stone paved trail through to Deurali(2150 m), views seen from here are of Annapurna South and HIunchuli. We again walk steep descent through forests witnessing different kind of trees and birds. The trail keeps going down and slightly up and later emerging into the main Modi valley and come up to small settlement at Tolkha (1790 m). Now the trail descends a long stone staircase to a suspension bridge and then climb up through forests to a ridge. The walk is now easier than previous one with streams, paddy fields and oval-shaped houses. We further walk through school cross the Ghora Khoal on a suspension bridge and finally come to the stop of the day “Landrung”, situated at 1620 m. this is a Gurung valley. 6 hours walk.

Day 05 Landrung- Ghandrung (1951 m): We straight go down up to Modi Khola by walking about an hour and crossing iron bridge. After crossing steep walk up to Ghandrung about 2.30 hours of we reach to Ghndrung village, a Gurung village. While climbing up from Modi khola the stunning views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli HImal and Machhapuchare (Fish Tail) are clearly seen. About 4.30 hours of walk.

Day 06 Ghandrung –Chomrung (2170 m) The trail follows the stone paved road up to Chautara off the village. We follow the road with stone pavement steps along the stone walls which right side is the farm fields and you will reach Kumrong (about 2100 m). Now the trail is steep descent towards Kyumnung in the valley . The trail continues with gentler slope and again little upward climb till we reach Kyumnung (1829 m). Again, the trail becomes slightly up with zigzag path with some place with stone staircase and later the trail becomes level and easier up to Taglung (2180 m). Now, again climb up the stone steps and before long, you will see the houses and lodges little far ways which later appears to be Chomrung. Our night stop will be here for the day. 6.30 hours walk.

Day 07 Chomrong - Doban (2500m). The trail descends on a stone staircase and crosses the Chomrong Khola on a suspension bridge then climbs through mountain flank, rocky path through the forested area and later reach to Khurdi Ghar. This may be good place for lunch and after lunch, the walk descends (about 350 meters) the stone steps, through t he forests and you will reach Bamboo Hotel. The walk is now gently ascended through the forest, streams that flows down from the flank on your left side. Now our final destination of the day “Dovan” is approaching nearer in 10 minutes, where we will stoop for the night. 7 hours walk.

Day 08 Doban - Machapuchare B. C. (3700m). The muddy trail goes up along the Modi Khola then on a rocky trail through forests to reach a cave at Hinku. From here you will reach to Deurali and along with the river bank, climbing little up from Bagal witnessing rhododendrons and by the end of the ridge you will come to the halt at the Machapuchare, ”Fish Tail”, base camp. The stupendous mountain views of Hiunchuli, Annapurna I and III, Gangapurna and Machapuchare will make your day accomplished. Our night stop over in one of the lodges here. 6.30 hours walk.

Day 09 Machapuchare B. C. - Annapurna B. C. (4130 m).- MBC. Today we explore Annapurna Base camp, by climbing alongside a moraine up to a knoll. Crossing three low hills, go up on the next hill, and you are in the Annapurna BC, sanctuary (4130 m), you will also see some of the breath taking views of Annapurna I (8091 m)with three lumps. To its left, Varhha Shikar (7647 m), Annapurna South (7219 m) and Hiunchuli (6441 m). Also, mountains like Khansar Kang, TArke Kang, Singuchuli, and behind them you can see the triangular rock spire of Machhapuchare and the snow-clad peak of Annapurna III (7555 m). After so much stunning and majestic views of the mountains we retreat back the same trail to MBC and stop for the night. 4 hours walk.

Day 10 MBC-Dovan . Retrace your steps back down. 4 hours walk.

Day 11 Dovan - Chomrong (2000m). Retrace your steps back down. 6 hours walk.

Day 12 Chomrong - Banthanti (2700m). The trail descends gently then steeply to the Khumnu Khola we cross before climbing through rhododendron forests to Thadapani. From here it descends to a river then climbs the same difference level to reach Banthanti, a village in the shadow of a huge rock face. 6.30 hours walk.

Day 13 Banthanti - Ghorepani (2800m). The trail climbs through deep forests to a crest at 3030m then descends to a grassy knoll which offers good mountain views, similar to that from Poon Hill : the Daulaghiri range, the huge Annapurna range. From here you see the Ghorepani pass below. 4 hours walk.

Day 14 Ghorepani - Birethanti (1000m). A long way down! The trail drops through oak and rhododendron forests to Ulleri at 2070m. From here a flight of steps leads to the river at 1500m. Then it follows the Bhurungdi Khola till Birethanti, a nice village on the riverside. But, we start our day by rising very early at 4 am today and walk about 45 minutes hike up to the vantage point of Poon Hill by the torch light. Gaze westwards as the purple shadows recede and the awesome peaks catch the first dazzling rays of orange sun.. Then walk down to Birethanti via Ulleri & Tirkhedhunga about 6 hours. Today will be the last night of the Annapruna trek at Birethatni. 7 hours walk

Day 15 Birethanti-Nayapool (1070 m): Hardly 25 minutes walk is up to Nayaand. After having some time there will be a transfer to Pokhara. (820m). Today we shall stay at the hotel booked in advance. Afternoon & evening is free and you can utilize it by witnessing small town of Pokhara..

Day 16 Flight to Kathmandu, it takes mere 30 minutes to reach Kathmandu. Transfer ot hotel. Free day on your own for shopping.

Day 17 Free day in Kathmandu.

Day 18 Free-time in the morning & afternoon for shopping, in the evening farewell dinner is arranged .

Day 19 Airport drop for the final departure.
